Patient Testimonial: Rhinoplasty in NYC with Dr. Dibelius – Improving Breathing and Confidence?

Question: How did you hear about Dr. Dibelius?

(0:03 – 0:41)

I did my own research; I found him online after weeks and weeks of researching for a surgeon. I was very nervous about even having the operation, so I wanted to make sure that I took my time and I found someone who was great, and he happens to be one of the best surgeons in New York City. So, I was very lucky to be able to reach out to him and come in for a consultation.

(0:41 – 0:50)

It was a very easy process. I sent him a message online. On his website, there was an option to reach out, and he got back to me the same day.

(0:50 – 0:52)

It was very easy to book an appointment, and I came in for my consultation.

What brought you in to see Dr. Dibelius?

(0:56 – 1:09)

So, when I was 17, I was in an accident, and I basically broke my nose, and I did nothing about it. So, for many years, I had trouble breathing, a lot of congestion, and you could see that I had a deviated septum.

(1:10 – 1:15)

So finally, I just got tired of not being able to breathe, and I wanted to correct it. So, I found Dr. D’Avivios.

Question: What was the process like during your initial consultation?

(1:20 – 1:28)

When I first came in, I was very nervous. I didn’t really know what to expect. He was very friendly. His team was very, very friendly.

(1:29 – 1:55)

Very informative. I had lots of questions, obviously being a new patient, and he was very attentive to the way I was feeling, also to my questions, answering and making sure he didn’t leave anything out, going through step by step what I should expect, pre-op, post-op, and things of that nature. Right before surgery, I felt really confident just because of the conversations we had and our consultation.

(1:56 – 2:10)

So, I knew that I was in good hands. Then surgery morning, I was very nervous again, very worried. Going into the operating room, I just felt unsure of what I was about to expect and go into, but everything went really great.

(2:10 – 2:17)

Great team. They made me feel really comfortable and told me not to worry. Everything’s going to be great.

(2:17 – 2:30)

And also right before I went in for my surgery, Dr. Dibelius asked me one more time about my expectations and also his expectations. So just making sure that I was extremely comfortable and we both had an understanding of what I wanted.

Question: What was your post-op experience like?

(2:34 – 2:43)

Believe it or not, right after surgery, I was able to walk to the bathroom by myself.

I was talking. I was hungry. I was back to my normal self.

(2:43 – 2:58)

My husband was waiting for me, and Amy did a wonderful job at keeping in touch with my husband throughout the surgery, communicating with him what time I was going in, what time I was coming out, and the condition that I was in. I felt great. No pain.

(2:58 – 3:07)

They didn’t have too much bandages on, little bandages on the front, nothing too crazy. I was able to walk to the car, got home and I ate, I went to sleep, and I felt really good.

Question: When did you have your post-surgery follow-up?

(3:11 – 3:38)

I saw him a week later to remove the bandages and the casts, and it was great.

He took everything off. He explained to me what I should expect in the next upcoming days and just once again told me how to clean my nose, how to care for the wound, what to avoid. So, he just reassured me again that, like everything I was seeing, was a normal part of the healing process, and everything looked really good.

Question: How do you feel now?

(3:41 – 3:53)

I feel really great. I will say that this surgery has really improved my confidence. My nose and its appearance have always been a big insecurity of mine ever since I got into the accident, which damaged it in the first place.

(3:53 – 4:10)

So just being able to see myself in the way that I imagine myself, it feels really, really nice, and also I’m able to breathe perfectly, which is most important. It’s been a huge issue for years and years. During my pregnancy, I could barely breathe, and now I just feel so good and relieved.

Question: Why would you recommend Dr. Dibelius?

(4:12 – 4:30)

I think he’s just a great surgeon. He’s very attentive. He listens to what you want, what you need, you know, because I feel like you can go into surgery and have an expectation of what you want to look like aesthetically, and that’s not always going to work with the function of your nose.

(4:30 – 4:46)

So, he makes you look great as well as providing the ability to breathe, which is the most important, I think, more important than looks. But he really listened to what I wanted as far as the shape, the size of my nose. He didn’t do anything that I wasn’t comfortable with.

(4:46 – 4:51)

So, if you want somebody who’s going to listen to exactly what you want, Dr. Dibelius.
