Complex Revision After Multiple Rhinoplasties

This patient in her 50s came to us after seven prior surgeries and severe breathing obstruction caused by an infected implant.

PAtient:

Female in her 50’s

Concern:

History of seven rhinoplasties following an infected implant, resulting in severe nasal narrowing, tip deficiency, and complete breathing obstruction.

GOAL:

To restore both form and function by rebuilding support, expanding the nasal valves, and creating a natural appearance.

 

Procedure:

Revision rhinoplasty was performed using rib cartilage grafts to reconstruct structural support, widen the nasal passages, and refine nasal definition.

OUTCOME:

At 2 months postop, images show a more natural nasal contour and greatly improved breathing function.

This woman in her 50’s presented with a history of 7 previous rhinoplasty operations after a nasal implant became infected, requiring multiple rounds of wash outs and reconstructions.  Although the infection was controlled, she was left with severe narrowing of the nose, deficiency of the nasal tip, and completely obstructed breathing.  We performed a revision rhinoplasty with rib cartilage to expand the nasal valves and create a more natural and functional nose.  Postop images from 2 months postop.
