OUR PRACTICE

The primary focus of Dr. Dibelius’s practice is helping patients obtain an aesthetically beautiful, anatomically functional nose using advanced surgical techniques. Dr. Dibelius takes on a wide variety of cases, from those who are having their first “nose job” to those who have had severe nasal trauma, cancer resections, “botched” cosmetic surgeries, and major breathing issues. He also has specialized training in so-called “augmentation rhinoplasty” – or building up the bridge of the nose, which is a common goal for Asian and African-American patients. Dr. Dibelius is proficient at rib grafting through a minimal incision, which allows him to take on cases considered too complex by many rhinoplasty surgeons.  Dr. Dibelius strives to be considered one of the best rhinoplasty surgeons in NYC and indeed around the world.

MEET DR. DIBELIUS

Dr. Dibelius earned his undergraduate degree at Amherst College in Massachusetts. He then studied medicine at the State University of New York Downstate Medical College in Brooklyn, NY, graduating at the top of his class with highest honors and junior AOA distinction. He then completed an internship in Surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center and a surgical Residency in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery at the prestigious NewYork Eye and Ear Infirmary of the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

Dr. Dibelius was then selected to be one of approximately 40 surgeons in the United States to complete a fellowship with the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS). He was further selected to study at the University of Illinois – Chicago with Dr. Dean Toriumi, who is widely considered one of the best rhinoplasty surgeons in the world. This highly sought-after position provided Dr. Dibelius with exposure to some of the most advanced techniques in modern rhinoplasty surgery as well as to some of the most complex cases referred from across the globe. The apprenticeship-style structure of the program allowed Dr. Dibelius to learn from dedicated one-on-one mentorship with a true master of rhinoplasty.

Dr. Dibelius is a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha and Sigma Xi honors societies, as well as the American Academy of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery. He has been active as an investigator and has presented his research at the national and international level. He has led courses instructing surgeons on updated techniques and new technologies in rhinoplasty, including the piezoelectric bone sculpting device and the use of fat-derived stem cell therapy in nasal reconstruction. In fact, he was one of the first United States adopters of ultrasonic piezoelectric technology in rhinoplasty under the recent FDA approval for the device in 2017. He has also authored publications in highly regarded medical journals in the fields of cancer research and facial plastic surgery, as well as several book chapters.

Dr. Dibelius was appointed Affiliate Faculty at the Charles E. Schmidt Florida Atlantic University School of Medicine in the Department of Surgery and has also served as a Clinical Instructor at the University of Illinois – Chicago.

Dr. Dibelius has dedicated his career to mastering the science and art of rhinoplasty surgery and his specialized practice is considered amongst the best for rhinoplasty in NYC.

COMPUTER IMAGING & DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY

High-quality photography is an essential part of performing world-class aesthetic procedures.  In our practice we use state-of-the-art digital photography techniques to help our patients achieve outstanding results.  During your consultation we will take photographs that are standardized for plastic surgery. We then use these images to provide visual simulations of possible outcomes* of the planned surgery, and to help facilitate discussions of various aesthetic goals with the help of individualized visual aids.  This is an important part of the consultation process which helps ensure that the surgeon’s and patient’s goals for the surgery are aligned.  While it is impossible to perfectly simulate an exact outcome, these images are one of the most important communication tools we have to discuss visual concepts and ideas with our patients.

*simulated images are not a guarantee of outcome and are not meant to be construed or interpreted as such.
